Re: The Hitching Post in Albuquerque, NM Where Glen Campbell Played

Hi KMFrye54, yes I have come across that story several times. I agree, things must have been already unrepairable by that point. In one of the tv documentaries done about Glen, he said that one of the last arguments they had went along the lines of "are you going to release that stupid cowboy song a...

Re: Best of Glen Campbell on YouTube

Yes getting closer! My guess is that Glen visited with Michael Parkinson around the time he was touring the UK (April - May 1981). Let's see if we can find a performance from 1980 or very early 1981 with that ending!

Re: Glen Campbell Forums on YouTube

Time for a new addition to our youtube channel... From the Goodtime Hour (March 1970) Glen performing a wonderful and moving rendition of Marty Robbins' Lord You Gave Me a Mountain, in support of Marty who was recuperating from a bypass operation at the time. I feel he makes it an extra special perf...

Re: Best of Glen Campbell on YouTube

Update: I have a recording of Glen performing Rhinestone Cowboy in 1980. Here he ends with a high-pitched "yeah like a rhinestone cowboy!" but during the song he sings "just like them rhinestone cowboys... and girls!" Was that the start of it? I think we assume that somewhere in 1980 or 1981 he star...

>Appears that this was right before filming for True Grit?
I don't know for sure but that doesn't seem likely. I know that By the Time I Get to Phoenix was released in the fall of 1967. I think True Grit was filmed in the fall of 1968 (judging by the color of the leaves) and released in 1969.

Re: Best of Glen Campbell on YouTube

About the date for the 1977 concert at The Royal Festival Hall... found this review in my little newspaper archive (thanks to my GC pal Phillip Jones). The concert was recorded April 2, 1977. concert_review_glen_campbell_festival_hall_1977.jpg So Glen started ending Rhinestone Cowboy with "and cowgi...

Interesting to see that Glen's old drummer (George Green) is also playing during that Wrecking Crew tribute!
