Re: Ovation suspends U.S. operations in an effort to modernize manufacturing

First of all thanks for joining the Forums. I totally agree with your stance about Ovation. At least DW gave it a try. They certainly could have marketed the brand a little differently, imo. It was probably doomed from the start. Taylor and Martin were certainly not going to let Ovation get their fo...

Glen Campbell's 1973 1117 Ovation Legend - Glen Returns to the Deep Bowl

I n October of 1973, Ovation R&D had designed and ordered 50 Legends to be built with Ovation's new "A" braced design. To this point, in their upstart operation, Ovation had used "X" and "VT" bracing in the acoustics they had offered. The Legend would become the top of the line, deep bowl, offering...

Re: Glen's Music Peers - What Are They Doing Now? updated 8/30/18

What was wrong with Hot August Night 1? Or 2 Seems a little silly. I love Neil Diamond. I WORE OUT my Hot August Night 8 track 3 times in the 70's. Ok...so lets just compare Cherry Cherry 2012 Hot August Night 3 or Cherry Cherry 1972 Hot August Night 1 Yeah...I will get it, just like I did 2...but w...

C arl Jackson, is a professional country and bluegrass musician, as well as a Grammy-winning studio producer. He served as Glen's bandleader and sideman for 12 years, from 1972 to 1984. Early 60's W.G. Barker Archtop

I n the following photo's we see Glen in the recording studio, presumably during mid-1968. He is pictured with an archtop guitar. I am presuming that this studio work was for the Wichita Lineman album and/or his compilation with Bobbie Gentry, as the shirt and coat can be seen on the cover of Wichi...

Ovation suspends U.S. operations in an effort to modernize manufacturing

(( My Reaction reading DW's subject line ) (08/03/2018 – Oxnard, CA) Drum Workshop Inc., owner of the 50 plus year, storied brand, recently announced plans to update most of its current models. Much of the comprehensive strategy is said to focus on a review of existing models and price points with t...

2018 Ovation Glen Campbell American Artist 1627GC-4X

Due to the demand for Glen's 1627 in 2017, Ovation released a 1627 in 2018 with a torrified top. Sadly, it will be the last American 1627 produced, as Ovation closed it's American production shop this year. The following is from Ovations press release of the 1627GC-4X: Widely regarded as one of the ...

Re: Glen Campbell's Mosrite Ventures Double Neck Mark 1 6-12 String

Damon Thomas was a little reserved when it comes to telling the full story of the early Mosrite 6/12 he had, named Bobby. Although it has nothing to do with Glen, I would like to share that guitar's very cool story to give some insight into Damon's character, along with some Semie Mosley and Mosrite...

Re: 1977 Fender Telecaster

Dee, they weigh the same today and if I were betting...the strat weighs more than the tele. And surely, Glens teisco weighted more than either one of those. I know the 6/12 Mosrite weighed 2x as much as any regular electric guitar. I think that is why he loved those Bluebirds...they had to weigh nex...
