Two live shows were held last night at the iconic Grand Ole Opry (celebrating its 90th year in broadcasting live country music), and Ashley beautifully performed "Better Boyfriend" and "Remembering" at both shows. She accompanied herself on banjo for the first song and on guitar on the second. The Opry's house band accompanied her as well, and they sounded great!
At the first show, Ashley was introduced on stage by Vince Gill who said, "...when you get to introduce somebody for their first time to ever appear on the Grand Ole Opry stage, it is one of the greatest thrills; I know it is for them.... I am so excited to get to introduce this beautiful girl to you, she is the daughter of our legendary, great Hall of Famer, Glen Campbell!" [huge applause by the audience]
Bill Anderson introduced Ashley at the second show beginning with: "Her father is one of the greatest musicians and singers that ever graced any stage anywhere, and he's graced them all around the world. And we miss him. We admire his talent, and I know you are going to enjoy the songs that his daughter has picked out for you tonight. Her Dad is a guy named Glen Campbell." [The audience responded to this intro with loud, enthusiastic applause and cheers.]
The audiences were also hugely responsive to Ashley's performances. I couldn't help but think: "a star is born" tonight. She did herself, her Dad, and her family proud.
