It gives me great personal pride to introduce Mr Glen Campbell.
Johnny Cash showing how much he admired Glen, on the Johnny Cash show.

I wish I could play guitar like you. David Gates to Glen after a duet.

"I believe that as a talent, he is unparalleled, and I think that history will look at him with much more favor than perhaps he's been regarded in the last few years, when I think he has undeservedly had the limelight taken away from him"

Jimmy Webb speaking a few years back on the Vh1 special

Jimmy Webb..

"That was the first record I ever bought. It was a 45 and I wore it out. Gorgeous sweet voice floats out and it also happened to be like a really nice song and this guy singing like an Angel and it was Glen"

speaking of "Turn around look at me"

Richard Marx:

It wasn’t until I became a professional musician that I not only found a true appreciation for his masterful guitar skills, but realized that his singing, which I took for granted, was out of this world amazing. [...] His singing was sublime. It was deeply soulful, and true and yet vocally challenging.

Or Brian Wilson, from the same Rolling Stone article

(http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ ... 10901?page" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; =1)

"His main forte is he's a great guitar player, but he's even a better singer than all the rest. He could sing higher than I could!"

Don't get me started now! Leon Russell:

"He was the best guitar player I'd heard before or since."

Or Keith Urban...

"I've always been a fan of what I like to call 'guitartists.' You know, those guitar-artists like Glen Campbell, who's probably one of my biggest influences -- those guys who knew a good song, had a great voice and played great and just the all-around guys with a guitar."

What about this (long) quote from Jose Feliciano (The Star Wire, february 16, 2000)?

"I don't think a lot of people know that Glen is such a great guitar player. I would have to say he was one of the ones that blew me away." The respect he felt for Campbell three decades ago hasn't faded at all. "I saw Glen last year in Washington, D.C. and he was still singing and playing greater than ever. He's a really good guy. I'm glad he has turned his life around. If anything bad would have happened to him, we all would have missed out on a great performer and a really good person. He's just a really good guy."

I liked his own quote. ; I'm not a country singer, but a country boy who sings'. That statement clearly defined Glen was a broad range singer. Both in and beyond country music.

Another quote about Galveston, now from Johnny Depp:
"When he sang 'Galveston' years ago, it killed me," Depp says, describing the Jimmy Webb song that Campbell transformed into a Top 10 hit in 1969, making it his own. "It's about a Vietnam soldier dreaming of home. It's elegant and perfectly timed."
