Marty Balin passed away on Friday. He was a co-founder of Jefferson Airplane and later joined Jefferson Starship.

When Glen passed away, Marty wrote on Facebook:

"The very first record I ever recorded with Challenge Records was with Glen Campbell on first guitar, the WRECKING CREW and the background vocals of THE BLOSSOMS with Darlene Love, Fanita James, and Jean King.
Glen Campbell was the big star of the day. Everyone was excited about the session. A day I will always remember and be thankful for having. Some of my favorite songs were his. Sorry to see you leave us Glen"."

Marty had a great voice and wrote some songs that will outlive us all.

Bluegrass mandolin legend Dean Webb of The Dillards passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018. He was aged 81.

Webb's obituary is posted on Bluegrass Today: https://bluegrasstoday.com/dean-webb-passes/

Dean Webb played bass on an instrumental folk album with Glen Campbell: '12 String Guitar!' (World Pacific, 1963) released under the name of The Folkswingers. This group was actually comprised of studio musicians with regularly changing members. In addition to Glen and Dean on the 12 String Guitar! album, the musicians included Doug Dillard and Rodney Dillard. The Dillards and Webb (as well as Mitch Jayne) were also members of the pioneering bluegrass group known as The Dillards.

The Dillards made appearances on The Andy Griffith Show as members of the fictional family "The Darlings". They may have been the first studio musicians who had regular guest spots on American TV. As an outcome of this acting job on the side, they became notable for being among the first bluegrass groups to introduce bluegrass music to many Americans who had never heard it.

The full '12 String Guitar!" album can be heard on Take's Bluegrass Channel on YouTube. His album cover differs slightly from the one we have seen in the U.S. with the name of "The Folkswingers" printed on the album cover instead of the words "folk blues & blue grass".

Rest in peace Dean Webb.

Mel Tillis has passed away at the age of 85! I think we have lost too many already---Glen really adored Mel--maybe the 2 of them are singing once again.
