(The NYT's title rings a bell, doesn't it? "(He) allowed his art to deliver a final message.")

I heard the news this morning that David Bowie has died from cancer aged 69. He was a global star and had hits from the seventies onwards. He even had a Christmas hit with "Little Drummer boy" with Bing Crosby, just before Bing passed away. There are going to be a lot of programmes on the TV and radio over the coming days recounting his life.

Troy Shondell, who had a hit song in 1961 with "This Time (We're Really Breaking Up)," dies--another one with this disease! This guy was talented-check out other links on him as he was all over the charts!

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Rock n' roll singer Troy Shondell, who had a hit song in 1961 with "This Time (We're Really Breaking Up)," has died. He was 76.

Shondell, whose real name was Gary Shelton, died Thursday at a nursing facility in Picayune, Mississippi, according to family friend K.J. Vigue. Vigue says Shondell's wife, Trina, told him about the death. The cause was complications related to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Shondell started singing and writing as a teenager. One of his earliest songs, "Kissin' at the Drive-In," became popular at drive-in movie theaters.

His biggest hit was "This Time (We're Really Breaking Up)," which spent four months on the Billboard Top 100 chart in 1961 and also charted on the UK singles chart. He later became a songwriter and publisher in Nashville, Tennessee

Natalie Cole, American Singer, Songwriter, Dies at 65

Natalie Cole, the American singer who overcame battles with substance abuse and the long shadow of her famous father to earn worldwide success of her own, has died. She was 65.

Cole died Thursday night at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles "due to complications from ongoing health issues," according to a statement from her family.

Natalie sang with Glen on different occasions and also Glen appears playing guitar on many of Natalie's Father, "Nat King Cole". 65 is just way too soon. What a great voice!!

Hi, ar, thank you for the information about the rare Terry Black single that Glen and other session musicians played on.
Below is the URL for Black's recording on YouTube. (A poster on this YT page shared that Glen is playing a 12-string guitar here.) Love the guitar ending!

Sad day for P.F. Sloan----Glen was on this record:

Unless You Care/Can’t We Go – Terry Black. This is an original release on Tollie Records from 1964. Produced by Sloan and Barri. It made the charts at #99, but was played in the Bay Area. The song Unless You Care became a Canadian hit in late part of 1964. Many of the songs also appear on another Black LP from the mid 60’s, the wonderfully titled The Black Plague. Glen Campbell plays session guitar on Unless You Care, and Sloan has recalled that other top Los Angeles session guys Leon Russell and Hal Blaine also played on the Black Plague recordings from this era. This 45 is in MONO – T-9026-Tollie Records/Sloan and Barri for Dunhill Productions. This is an extremely rare 45 and in terrific shape. This recording is 37 years old. Glen Campbell was 28 when he did the guitar work on here
