Dee,
I do not have this CD but can give you a few tips! I remember when this came out!

That "Jan & Dean's California Special" CD came out a few years ago-Original Release Date: January 1, 2009-they re-released this-my guess--re mastered it once again for this Release Date: September 13, 2015.
The spoken segment by Glen as one of the tracks was just that--have to remember that Glen did session work with Jan and Dean and was on so many recordings w/them. I am sure he is on most of those tracks on the CD. The spoken segment is Glen talking about the times he was with Jan and Dean. Surf City and other records Glen Campbell was on...
Ar

Jan & Dean with Friends & Jan & Dean -----This is the Key word on this CD----
Cool! The "Jan & Dean's California Special" CD is now on the official Glen Campbell topic on YouTube courtesy of Label Engine. This is Glen's complete intro from the CD; he had served as host for the California Special:

Box Set Celebrates Bobbie Gentry, ‘The Girl From Chickasaw County’
Published on July 27, 2018
Previously-unreleased recordings with Bobbie Gentry & Glen Campbell Included!

The first major retrospective box set commemorating the enduring legacy of Bobbie Gentry will be released by Universal Music on 21 September.
EXCERPT FROM OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:
BOBBIE GENTRY ‘THE GIRL FROM CHICKASAW COUNTY’ CAREER DEFINING DELUXE 8 DISC BOX SET FEATURING 7 REMASTERED STUDIO ALBUMS AND A WEALTH OF RARITIES INCLUDES 75 UNRELEASED RECORDINGS AND NEVER BEFORE ISSUED LIVE TRACKS TAKEN FROM HER BBC TV SERIES

Released by UMC on 21 September 2018

It’s September 1967 and sitting in the UK charts alongside the Small Faces ‘Itchycoo Park’, the Rolling Stones ‘We Love You’, and Traffic’s ‘Hole In My Shoe’ was an extraordinary single called ‘Ode To Billie Joe’ sung by its author Bobbie Gentry. An unconventional, beguiling song with sparse production, and no discernible chorus, Gentry’s style of story-telling was very different to the self-confessional song writing of other emerging female singers. It introduced the world to an artist who not only knocked Sgt Pepper off the top of the US Album charts, but who was also one of the first female musicians who wrote, produced and even published her own music.

Bobbie broke new ground by producing her elaborate stage shows via her own production company, and was the first female singer songwriter to be afforded her own BBC TV series; she became one of the most iconic and influential artists of the 1960s & 70s, only to disappear from the public eye completely, never to return.

On September 21st 2018 UMC releases the first major retrospective of this most enigmatic artist. The Girl From Chickasaw County is an 8CD box set that includes all seven of Gentry’s studio albums sensitively remastered from the original tapes, supplemented by over 75 previously unreleased recordings including her ‘lost’ jazz album, outtakes, demos, rarities and an 8th disc of live performances taken from her celebrated series for the BBC. The release has specially commissioned cover art by David Downton and includes an 84-page book with a comprehensive essay, rare and unseen photos, 8 postcards and a facsimile of her original handwritten lyrics for ‘Ode to Billie Joe’.

EXCERPT #2 FROM THE OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: Disc 4 Bobbie Gentry & Glen Campbell
One of Bobbie’s most commercially successful releases saw her team up with fellow country star Glen Campbell for an album of duets that included her ‘Mornin Glory’, a hit on the country and easy listening charts. The pair also deliver winning interpretations of Margo Guryan’s ‘Sunday Mornin’, ‘Scarborough Fair’ and the Everly Brothers hit ‘Let It Be Me’. All are represented in previously unreleased alternate versions. The disc is rounded off with 'Love Took My Heart and Mashed That Sucker Flat’ Bobbie’s little known duet with friend and producer Kelly Gordon, and some foreign language singles including a Japanese ‘Fool On The Hill’ and Spanish ‘I’ll Never Fall In Love Again’- all appearing on cd for the first time.

An album preview article written by Paul Sexton is available at:
 https://www.udiscovermusic.com/news/box ... aw-county/

The complete track list is listed below. (Bobbie & Glen's tracks are on Disc 4.) Additional updates will be posted about Bobbie Gentry's set as related to Glen Campbell, of course.

Note: If anyone is interested in purchasing the box set, the label offers two online shopping options now: amazon/U.K. and uDiscoverMusic.com. If you are ordering inside the States, then the second option is currently less expensive, a difference of approximately $20.

Update: This new album release is now tentatively slated for November 2, 2018 (instead of early October).

'Glen Sings For The King' - by Glen Campbell

CD / Label UMe

Label's Description:
In 1965, Glen Campbell was part of the infamous "Wrecking Crew," recording sessions for the era's biggest pop songs, touring with the Beach Boys, and recording his own albums. He was signed to Capitol Records and only two years away from his breakthrough single, "Gentle On My Mind." By night, Campbell was cutting full studio-quality demos for Ben Weisman, the legendary songwriter who wrote 57 songs that were recorded by Elvis Presley - the most Elvis recorded by one songwriter.

Campbell had the uncanny knack to sing in the same key as Elvis, and so between 1965-1967 he recorded numerous Weisman songs to send to Elvis. 18 of these previously unreleased recordings have been recovered and restored, and will be released together on a new collection, Sings For The King. Elvis went on to record 12 of the 18 songs himself, but we are now able to hear Campbell's versions for the first time ever. The collection highlights Campbell's incredible vocal range and guitar skills, and also draws focus to Weisman's understanding of all the styles of music Elvis could perform.
Tracks:
1 We Call On Him
2 Easy Come, Easy Go
3 Any Old Time
4 Anyone Can Play
5 I Got Love
6 I'll Never Know
7 All I Needed Was The Rain
8 How Can You Lose What You Never Had
9 Spinout
10 Magic Fire
11 I'll Be Back
12 Love On The Rocks
13 Stay Away Joe
14 Cross My Heart And Hope To Die
15 Clambake
16 There Is So Much World To See
17 Do The Clam
18 Restless

I learned from a long-time Elvis fan and researcher that "We Call On Him" became a favorite gospel song of Elvis Presley's almost as soon as he heard the demo. Elvis recorded the song on September 11, 1967. Written by Fred Karger, Ben Weisman, and Sid Wayne, it was first released on the b-side of a single in 1968. A remastered version with lyrics sung by Elvis Presley is embedded below (music video).

We call on Him
Whenever storm clouds gather
We call on Him to light our darkest day
Why must it be that only when we're lonely
And hopes are dim, we call on Him

Why don't we call on Him before we lose our way
To count our blessings and thank Him while we may

We call on Him when no-one else will answer
We ask of Him a reason to go on
When our cup of joy becomes a cup of sorrow
Filled to the brim, we call on Him

Why don't we call on Him before we lose our way
To count our blessings and thank Him while we may

I am still waiting for either piano/guitar chords for Jeff Dayton's "Long Slow Train Out of Town"

I also need the words and chords to his other track called "Fall Back in Love."

If anyone could assist, I would really appreciate this. These songs are from Jeff Dayton's Tribute CD to Glen called, "The Glen Connection." Fabulous CD and very talented man...

Recently in this topic, we were chatting about the new "Best of Glen Campbell" DVD imported from Australia. It didn't appear to be legit.

However, good news, Glen Campbell fans! arlw sleuthed this DVD and here is her update, posted for y'all:

Got this DVD we spoke about----AWESOME and it’s not a bootleg….I would go ahead and buy this if you can!!

The Best of Glen Campbell – This is an imported DVD from Australia and it contains 46 Videos from overseas. It appears to have different takes of Glen from various time periods, but they are all captured on this DVD. And, they list the song that Glen sings with sub-titles, which show the original release and the latest version. Nice touch on their part. This is actually listed in “English, Stereo, PAL Format AND ALL REGIONS”.

It plays in Blu-Ray devises and also on the computer so it is Region Free! When you put in the DVD, it comes up “Elm Street Media 2011”, but the label on the case says “2017- Golden Lane Records/MVD Visual” - POSDVD32.

Picture disc DVD of Glen and on the bottom of the DVD, it is written, “Manufactured and Distributed by Universal Music, Australia Pty Limited, Made in Australia.” Great selection of tracks and artists. “Possum DVD Video.” (0-602567-446583). Terrific imported DVD from Australia. They covered it all! -ar

The images of the DVD case, front and back with the tracks, are posted in this same thread. Here's the short-cut to save you time from scrolling:
 viewtopic.php?f=10&t=23&start=10#p8035

Thank you, ar! Your update is tremendous news!

Too Late To Worry CD arrived today. The front is the same as the LP. The housing section for the CD is also correct and nicely done. The CD itself is green with blue and yellow writing. The CD is made in the EU-Grey Scale Company. Weird part of this is, the back where they list the tracks--picture of Glen is nice, but doesn't match the time frame!! Haven't listened to this yet but one would think it's not re-mastered either.....Nice job overall by Grey Scale.
