For more information:Music played an important cultural role during the Vietnam War, representing the rebellious views of a young generation and the traditional values of an older, so-called “silent majority.” The Newseum selected 40 songs released between 1963 and 1973 that typified the music of the Vietnam era. The songs captured the emotions of people for and against the war and reflected the mood of an increasingly diverse country amid dramatic social and political change.
The 40 songs...are a fraction of the hundreds of recordings that dealt with the war and civil disobedience. Each week (Mondays), one song from the playlist will be featured (on the museum's website).

Great radio discussion, Cowpoke! Thank you for your post.
Guess what? The Billy Mize & the Bakersfield Sound film is NOW available on DVD/Blu-ray and is screening in theatres.
Check out the film's website with trailer at: http://billymizemovie.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Mr. Mize is an amazingly talented man who survived many tragedies in his life including a stroke at the age of 59 years old. This film is his "swan song".
Billy Mize performed and also hosted Gene Autry's "Melody Ranch" television show in the sixties and early seventies. Here is Glen Campbell on "Melody Ranch" with Billy Mize at 2:41 minutes into the video. (Billy is wearing a blue suit.)

The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour was a victim of a television network's "rural purge".
How many of you remember when the Goodtime Hour was cancelled as well as other shows considered "country" that are mentioned in this article?
