Don't give up hope, nostalgiackh! Did you see this rare, re-mastered video clip recently uploaded by Scott Rogers on his YouTube channel?
Sonny and Cher from the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour originally broadcast on March 21st 1967!

Also found is a promo (audio only) for the GC & Cher episode. Cowpoke is working on obtaining the audio in order to post it here on the forums.

Nostalgiackh, have you searched this television archive and posted your quest on its forum?
See: https://archive.org/details/television? ... ter&page=6" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(It's probably best not to click on any URL that is posted, just click on the programs that have already been uploaded to this site.)

Please keep us posted!
The clip is from episode 6 which I already have, I've heard the Glen & Cher episode promo before and the television archive has nothing related to her show.

Hi, Nostalgiackh,

Just thought I would mention that Cher is on one of the new Goodtime Hour Christmas Shows that is being released today!

This is a direct link to posts about this DVD: http://www.glencampbellforums.com/viewt ... =319#p4514" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Short clips from the Christmas shows have been posted up on YouTube but these episodes have never before been released in full on DVD.

Hopefully, you will see some Cher and/or Cher/Glen footage that will be new to you.

Dee

I am continuously surprised at the amount of film and audio tape available in the Glen fan world.
Some of these recordings go back to the sixties.
The discovery of most early recordings was serendipitous. The most amazing one that I am aware of is film or tape discovered in a trash can in Hollywood by a fan: The Making of Norwood (1970). Norwood was Glen Campbell's second studio film in which he starred. The lucky finder, a most generous and loyal Glen fan, had this film transferred to DVD and then he posted it on YouTube (only for VideoBeat.com to allegedly download and sell it on their website).
Shindig! episodes (Sonny & Cher appeared on this program) from the mid-sixties are still available, one of the few early rock shows that preserved tapes or film.
Other sixties shows were not so fortunate. I believe that all of Hootenaany's film was not preserved by the network on which it aired. However, mysteriously a 1963 promo of this show is posted on YouTube.
Also, I read that an uncle of one of the Hoot performers shot film of the show when it was broadcasted on television using Super 8 film and then later converted it to VHS video! No audio, however. Still, a treasure because it captured a folksinging group at or near the beginning of their career.
The performance of Cher with David Bowie from the "Cher" show is still around. Here are 6 minutes of highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z9b0GFRz9g" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. This clip looks like a homemade job, you think?
This clip from "Cher" is better quality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvJVQYLlj2A" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Here's another clip that appears to have been recorded from a "Cher" show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0Gw9IUmjwM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also a goodie from "Cher" in 1975: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFHm6vKjO4Q" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You have likely seen all of these YouTube clips. Perhaps all of these YT clips are from the rebroadcasts on VH-1? Have you contacted the owners of these YouTube channels to find out if they have complete episodes including the 12/14/75 one? Just a thought.
A 17-second audio of a promo for the very show you are seeking is on the net. Perhaps Cowpoke can post it in the Hitching Post forum for all fans here to listen to -- a quip between Glen Campbell and Cher! Priceless!
IMO, the sharing of these early gems is contingent on the generosity of its "owners", their ability (or access to techies who know how to make these transfers in the best way possible) to transfer the early media to a contemporary medium, their desire to do so, their awareness of the value of the recordings in their possession, and, of course, copyright laws!
You had mentioned that 1975 was not a good year for Glen Campbell. It was also not a good year for Cher, right? She and Sonny had broken up, their divorce was in all the tabloids. Perhaps the "Cher" show reminds Cher of an unhappy time in her life and this is why she has not been behind the release of her "Cher" episodes?
Dee
Yes the majority of the clips you linked are from the VH1 reruns. You can see the VH1 logo on some of them. YouTube is an obvious place so I'd be aware of any new footage that is uploaded there. Believe me, I have scoured through so many parts of the Internet since I first expressed an interest in seeing these episodes. Indeed 1975 was a very hectic year for Cher. She was on the cover of every magazine back then and her personal life was always in the tabloids. Cher doesn't really like most of her past work, especially her solo variety series. In her "My First Time" book she mentioned that she thought she really sucked at doing the opening monologues. That's probably why she hasn't been motivated to make an official release for that kind of footage.

I'd say post about this to any Glen forum you're a part of to help get the word across. I feel like there would have to be an older fan that would have obtained a rarity like this in the past.

Here's another clip, appears to be from VH-1.
Very funny, I think. I am glad these artists didn't age as shown here!
(Sadly, Flip passed away in 1998.)
You would never see a show with three iconic music artists like this today: Bette, Cher and Elton.

I contacted another long-time GC fan via facebook who has one of the best collections of videos with Glen Campbell.
He promised to keep your quest in mind! Over the past few months, this fan has been converting his "vintage" recordings on VHS to DVD and posting segments of Glen on various shows on YouTube.
The good news is that this fan has an extensive collection. The bad news is that (like me) he didn't keep up with labeling all of his VHS tapes over the years. So it may take months and months for him to find out whether or not he has the "Cher" episode that you are seeking.
Please help keep this topic/thread active on the first page by doing exactly what you did tonight, nostalgiackh.

I doubt he'd have it since the episode aired only twice and it was before VHS tapes were invented. I really hope I can see all of these episode just once before I die!
