Just Wow— The Glen Campbell Memorial At The CMA Country Music Hall Of Fame
Intellectual Froglegs
By Joe Dan Gorman
August 26, 2017

Blogger writes about his attendance at the memorial service held in Nashville on August 24th for Glen Campbell:
Highlight for me was Jimmy Webb —a ridiculously talented and legendary songwriter. He played piano with no accompaniment and performed Amazing Grace and Wichita Lineman.
There was a lot of love — Glen’s wife Kim is a warrior… and a strong Christian woman. In fact — a LOT of the folks in that place were strong Christians

Tucson's Jim Slone recalls Glen Campbell
By Cathalena E. Burch
Arizona Daily Star
August 9, 2017

Check out Arizona Daily Star's heartwarming interview with former DJ and radio exec Jim Slone who was one of Glen Campbell's lifelong friends beginning way back in Albuquerque. Mr. Slone shares warm memories of Glen as well as personal photographs he shot during Glen's early appearances in Tucson, Arizona. The article also includes an image of an ad for Glen's appearance at Tucson Gardens (Courtesy of Jim Slone), which provides us with a short list of songs performed by Glen in '64:
KENTUCKY MEANS PARADISE
TURN AROUND, LOOK AT ME
TOO LATE TO WORRY, TOO BLUE TO CRY
IT'S BEEN SO LONG, DARLING

Also on the ad, Glen Campbell is featured as "America's No. 1 12-String Guitarist" and the Green River Boys performed at this show, too.

Here's Glen and the Green River Boys performing It's Been So Long, Darling:

Glen Campbell Left Us an Astonishing Musical Legacy — and Invaluable Personal Story
Clash Daily
By Steve Pauwels
August 15, 2017

Glen Campbell's death was personal for Steve Pauwels:
Although I was in a public location when a friend texted news that eighty-one-year old Glen Campbell had passed away, I still reacted audibly. The contemporary music icon had been ill for a number of years, of course — in 2011, it was announced he was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease — so his passing wasn’t a complete surprise. Still, the announcement took me aback — I’ve been a fan for years.
You can read Steve's story here:

Many thanks to Mr. Pauwels for reaching out to share his article with Glen Campbell Forums.

Interview with British punkrock icon Adam Ant.
Are there people from your peer group, or any of your idols, who you feel like maybe aren’t receiving the sort of credit they should be while they’re still living?

That’s quite a difficult question to answer. I mean, someone like Glen Campbell was always someone that was so consistent that you didn’t realize the body of work that he’d done. Same with Johnny Cash. When Johnny Cash passed, it was someone who had gone through so much, and they make films about them, and you discover just how great they were. It’s the longevity that they have, and the consistency that they have, and the originality that they maintain.

And here's a great write-up by David Paich of the band Toto who explains the role Glen played in the formation of Toto.

How do you know what to say about Glen? First of, I loved that man for 50 years. Thru all the good times and bad, I have always had Glen's music to fall back on. I still have his music, but seeing him sing on videos is very hard. Every concert that I attended just filled me with joy. Also thru my love for Glen, I have made new friends (Hi Ar!) who are now family makes me so blessed. Also I am so glad that I now have this forum where people will not judge you for your opinions(Thanks Dee!) I will miss him, but he will always be known as the "Rhinestone Cowboy"

Brownwood pastor speaks at Glen Campbell memorial
Brownwood Bulletin
August 26, 2017

Dr. Richard Jackson spoke at Glen Campbell's memorial service called “Remembering...A Celebration of the Life and Music” held in Nashville on August 24th. He has been a friend of the Campbells for 35 years and was their pastor for 12 years at North Phoenix Baptist Church, where Glen and Kim became members in 1981. He performed their marriage in 1982, and baptized Ashley, Cal and Shannon. Dr. Jackson beautifully describes Glen's faith in God:

Below is a photo I took of the liner notes written by Pastor Jackson for a promo of Glen's album, "No More Night". The Pastor's words are particularly appropriate now.

Glen's memorial service was an invitation-only service limited to 300 guests and was not televised.
It surely befitted The Rhinestone Cowboy and the unforgettable person that was Glen Campbell:
