Fans, we thought you may be interested in learning about a long-running Campbell family fundraising project managed by members of Glen's family in Delight, Arkansas. (This info was passed along by a friend of the forums here.)
According to a family representative in Glen's home town, some members of the Campbell family had decided to begin a small cash scholarship to help a graduating senior in Delight with college expenses. The scholarship is in honor of Glen's parents Wes and Carrie Campbell
. Glen made a donation to begin this scholarship and since then, each year family members sell reunion shirts to earn money to keep this scholarship funded.
In July 2017, the family decided to do a "50 years of Gentle On My Mind" commemorative Glen Campbell t-shirt to not only earn money for the scholarship, but also to earn money for the upkeep of the small private Campbell Cemetery (which is where Glen is now buried along with his parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.). All profits from sales of the GC shirts are split equally between the scholarship fund and the cemetery fund.
The shirts are designed and printed by a relative of Glen's who owns Henderson Graphics & Printing in Delight. Her business has an online shop, too, at http://shop.hendersongp.com
. It looks to be closed now, probably for the holidays.
If you are interested in donating in Glen's memory to this charitable cause that Glen had supported himself, we are sure the family would greatly appreciate it. You may contact them via the shop's website at "Contact Us". Or keep checking the website in the future for any GC commemorative shirts if interested.
By the way, the Campbell Family Cemetery is open to the public. Fans who wish to pay their last respects to Glen are welcome to visit.
Thank you.Glen with his parents on an episode of The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour:
