Your guess is as good as mine! May have just been a rehearsal! I doubt they let photographers on the set with all the camera angles... In the movie...they do not start that scene from that point...it is closer to the grave. It typically only snows in the upper elevations during October ... but it looks to me that they came back maybe in November to film this scene with the snow and no leaves on the trees.

Funny that Glen credited JW with the jump...but all the other sources says it was the stunt man.

Good catch! So what happened. Did the snow set in and did they decide to shoot that scene again because it was more fitting?

Where is the snow? I wonder if they took this during a rehearsal. Or maybe there is a blooper here. Gotta pull out the DVD.

Just as I had expected...

True Grit 50 Year Celebration in Ridgway, Colorado!

It appears that in October 2019, Ridgway is going to host a festival honoring this occasion. In preliminary talks, it appears that the Ridgway Chamber of Commerce is going to go all out for his occasion, hoping to bring in celebrities related to the movie. I have attached the press release that was provided to Glen's Forums. Stay tuned for further developments!
