No need to excuse yourself Rob. Your comments are most welcome in any topic. And in the rare case a post is better off in a different topic then we are here to help. We want everybody to feel free to post and not worry about whether the post is in the right topic or not.

And wow, that's great. I love Dolly as well. I forgot if I named her my top favorite female country singer of all time, but at least she was in the top 5. And such a great songwriter too, many people forget that.

Dolly's performing in a small arena in Kent Wa. she sold out in around 24 hours, we are lucky to have seen her when we did and got to meet her at a book signing for her children's book Coat of Many Colors, we were in the parking lot when she pulled up and happened to be standing by her limo as she opened the door and stepped out, the cloud of perfume that had been penned up in the car hit us and almost knocked us out, she smiled as she was escorted away, one of the big moments of my life to be so close to that sort of greatness, my wife and I just adore her.

I was only in 5th Grade when I saw True Grit and read the book, Fall of '69/Spring 1970.

I would have had trouble explaining what I saw or felt but the main dynamic was there, your habits and acts define who you are and what you're about.

Mattie is rigid and stern, she doesn't like you to see her sweat, she rubs and washes the sweat off her brow until her cheeks turn red and sting.

Life is very messy for Mattie, she doesn't want it that way, the men in her life have a tendency to act or be chivalrous when there is no need and when there is a call have trouble rising to the occasion, all preconceived notions and judgement slips away when justice is served swiftly.

We spend our life seeking to be true to ourselves and find our one true calling, but it may require some help, for people to learn they can rely and depend on you, and in turn, you can rely on them as well.

We've been given the innate faculties or gifts to lead, we have to find them, in a messy chaotic world seek to restore order and maintain the peace, and maybe then you will have a good yarn to weave and get some rest.

Thank you, Mattie for a lesson well learned, and Glen Campbell for inspiring me to read!

Love,
Rob

Hi Elusive Butterfly, thanks for your post! That song really is one of the early ones. It's from Glen's album "Too Late To Worry Too Blue To Cry", released in 1963, recorded in September 1962.

11 September 1962 [no 10784] Capitol Recording Studio, 1750 North Vine St., Hollywood, CA – Glen Campbell (Glen Campbell [vcl/ac gt], Allen Reuss [ac gt], Donald Frost [drums], Carl Tandberg [bass fiddle] + orchestra conducted by Jimie Haskell. Producer: Nick Vent)

060 38269 I'LL HOLD YOU IN MY HEART ST-1881 ST 2679 8-30288-2
061 38270 WHEN YOU CRY,YOU CRY ALONE ST-1881
062 38271 IT'S BEEN SO LONG DARLING ST-1881
063 38272 OH MY DARLIN' 4925 / ST-1881

I see now that one of the other songs from that same recording session is "My Special Angel" which wasn't released at the time, but it was eventually released in 1995 on CD as a "previously unreleased" track on The Essential Glen Campbell series. I had almost forgotten about that one!

Do you like this one as well? Thanks for making me remember this wonderful track!

Love the memories. Yes I love the memories of all Glen's songs from his "early years". They seem so sweet and innocent somehow. I have this song on my usb-stick. Had it for a long time. Don't quite remember when or from where I got it. But it has such lovely tone and rythm to it. And Glen's voice......I adore it. This must have been recorded when he was very young. Maybe even before he got into all his session work. Does anyone know a bit about these "Teener" songs from back then? Thanks for this helpful concert information, Shelia.
So Glen was in Dollywood in 1989 and 1999--after he had closed the Goodtime Theater in Branson and he still had the Jeff Dayton Band with him. Did Debby perform with her Dad at this 1999 concert?
That's sad about the two missed meet and greets. Glen did not hold a M &G on October 26, 2012, the last concert I saw him give. (I can't believe it's been two years already as of today!) I think these fan meetings became too tiring for him, and I remember that he was sick that December. Wasn't a concert at the Ryman in November 2011 or 2012 cancelled due to Glen's illness?
A Ryman Goodbye Tour concert was filmed for the documentary. I think this one took place on January 3, 2012.
(I am very sorry about the loss your Mother.)

Hey Dee & all

No Dolly wasn't there or at least she didn't come on stage with Glen. Sometimes Dolly is there but she's not seen. Anyway Glen was
there a 2nd time that I know of in 1999. I remember that year for sure as that is the year I lost my mother in August and Glen was at
Dollywood in Sept. He had to cut his show short that night as he was flying out for London that very night and had to catch the plane.
This is when Jeff Dayton was still with him cause Jeff is the one we ask why the short show. Didn't get to go back stage that night
as there was no time for meet & greet. The only other time I didn't get to go backstage was in Nashville on the farewell tour in 2012
after he had gotten sick in Dec and they didn't want fans around him so much. My only 2 times I didn't.

A big ol' welcome back to SheliaT! We are so glad you are here!

Thanks so much for your post-- I never knew Glen Campbell performed in Dollywood--and you got to meet him there! You and your group...just hangin' around and relaxing with Glen!
Did Glen perform with Dolly or did he do his own show?
We'd love to hear more about this meeting and also your memories from Branson. So many of us did not get to see Glen perform in Branson....

SheliaT, thank you, too, for your sweet words about this new fan-based forum! Everyone's feedback about it has been so uplifting; we--all the fans here--want the best for Glen and his legacy!

(Hey, you did okay on Facebook...considering the billions of FB people out there, we somehow connected right after you joined up! It's a small Glen World, isn't it?) :D

I'm Back and thanks to all who created this forum. Had to join Facebook and as Dee can vouch for me I was no good at posting. Kept
wanting to enter but I do love all the pictures posted. I've got so many many memories of Glen but the best backstage visit was at
Dollywood it was probably around 1989 and a group of about 20 of us got to visit with Glen for about 30 min. Just laughing, talking, taking
pictures it was so very relaxed. Got all my memories from Branson that I will share in the coming days. Thanks again for the forum

SheliaT
