Here's another great picture of Glen with X014.

Here is one more of X014 which I believe, was taken on the same night as the previous photo. The sheet music for Manhatten Kansas. This photo also appeeared on the back of the Guitar Instruction book from 1971.

Here is the one album cover I know of featuring the GC X014 guitar. This album was released in 1972.

Glen playing the Baldwin 801CP

In 1970, Glen appeared on Johnny Carson, the Goodtime Hour and Tom Jones playing a Baldwin 801CP. Had he not seemed interested in the Prismatone equipped Baldwin, Charlie Kaman may have never developed the Prismatone equipped Ovation 1624. Here is a video from the Goodtime Hour back in November of 1970.

Ovation R&D soon developed their own piezo acoustic pickup and went on to be the leader in acoustic/electric guitars through the 80's.

Thanks, Wayne.
It's really wonderful that some of Glen's guitars have ended up with guitar enthusiasts / collectors / musicians like yourself who know their value (intrinsic) and history -- and take the best of care for them.
Thanks again for sharing your photos and information here.
I'll go in half with Jay to buy that snowmobile! :)

Hi Dee;

As Jay mentioned, I do own this guitar and a few of the others in this section. Yes, I feel blessed to have acquired them.

There may be a few random videos of me playing some of the guitars but I don't know for sure. There are none on YouTube that I know of.

Jay; yes, you would need a snowmobile, and a good one, to get to them right now!

Dee,
Wayne does own the guitar and I posted his pictures in the original post.
Wayne is hoarding several of Glen's guitars. I know where he lives, but would have to get a passport and probably a snowmobile to attempt to bring them back to their rightful country of origin.

Hi, Bluebird,
If I correctly understand Jay's post below, do you now own this guitar? If so, how fantastic for you!
Do you have any videos on YouTube of your playing it? that you would be willing to post here? I'd love to hear how it sounds after all these years.
Thank you for all of your contributions to this forum.
Dee

Thanks Wayne! I can't imagine how that feels to have that guitar, and watch it 44 years ago. The irony is...all of that freakin out by Charlie...all of that R&D by Ovation...Probably around the clock production...and he isn't plugged in. Yeah...it all looks and sounds ad libbed, right from the recording...but still...

This is the only video I have come across of Glen playing the Ovation 1624 (Proto X014). From a 1971 Goodtime Hour episode. It is quite identifiable in the opening seconds which show a closeup of the guitar. It is the only Prismatone equipped, initialed 1624 with a non-rectangular bridge. The label is not usually visible in the sound hole because it is on the upper-side of the interior of the bowl.
