More research needed as Alzheimer's becomes a tsunami
By Times-Union Editorial
May 10, 2016

More, more, more funding is desperately needed to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease. "Researchers studying heart disease receive $1.6 billion annually from the federal government. Those studying HIV/AIDS receive about $3 billion. Researchers looking at cancer receive $5.6 billion." Only $991 million in total will be spent in 2016 to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Why hasn’t Alzheimer’s research kept up with funding for other illnesses?

Welcome to Glen Campbell Forums, L.B., and thank you for your kind words for Glen and his family and for sharing this information about Lion's Mane mushroom.

It's so sad that Glen is going through this terrible disease. God Bless him and his poor family. I thought I should pass on some important information that I came across online. I recently read a very interesting article about a mushroom called Lion's Mane that is helping people with dementia. I wonder if Glens family has researched anything about it?. Its worth looking into. The Lion's Mane mushroom destroys plaque in the brain and makes new brain cells. Pass it on!

ALZHEIMER’S WILL ONLY WORSEN WITHOUT U.S. RESEARCH FUNDS

An excellent article explaining why more funding is direly needed to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease.
Also, a mention of "Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me".
Alzheimer's is a dreadful disease. Chances are that you've known somebody who has developed it. If you haven't experienced the pain of seeing a human being robbed of their mind and personality, watch "Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me" (now on Netflix). It depicts how one of my favorite childhood music icons has been devastated, along with his family, by the disease. I had flashbacks to the summer of 1985 when I spent a half-hour interviewing Glen backstage at the Stanislaus County Fair. He had just exited his stormy period of drug abuse with Tanya Tucker.
