Too bad all these Oscar videos are not viewable for me.

"Due to rights agreements, we only offer this video to viewers within the United States and its territories."

I did manage to see some low quality videos on youtube taped by filming the tv screen! From what I heard, he did a fine job. But at the same time, as with the CMA award tribute in 2011, part of the tribute to me, is that the fact that even a top class singer like Tim McGraw cannot come close to Glen's performance of this song. Now some might say, this is because it's Glen's song and if Glen were to sing a Tim McGraw song, it would be the other way around. However, we know that Glen very often performed a cover song, better than the original.

Tim's performance makes me realize how special Glen is as a singer. Instinctively, Glen knows exactly when to prolong a certain note or when to cut it off. Exactly how to phrase a line, to give it maximum impact. Glen is not just a great singer, he really is one of the best there ever has been.

"But as we expected, McGraw sang his heart out and brought tears to the eyes of all who witnessed the moving moment."

I agree with Randy. There is so much to be grateful for. Thanks to The Academy for honoring Glen with a nomination, thanks to Tim McGraw for his performance of the song, which has now been heard by almost a billion people! Thanks to Julian Raymond for almost singlehandedly engineering a late career comeback for Glen and cowriting some beautiful and meaningful songs. Thanks to Glen's family for supporting Glen in so many ways... hey I am writing a thank you speech and Glen didn't even win!

Beautiful post, Randy. Thank you for it.
I have been sitting here, sort of stunned, not knowing what to write to post.
You said it all, very, very graciously. Thank you again.

I congratulate the winner of the Oscar for best original song "Selma's Glory" and there were no losers. Just to be nominated is a tremendous honor.
Although "I'm Not Gonna Miss You" didn't take home the Oscar, It's a winner. My sincerest thank you to Julian Raymond for putting Glen's heartfelt message to Kim, and all his children, and all his family, to words. I'm in agreement with Elton John that it is one of the best songs EVER written.

Again I also thank Tim McGraw for his outstanding and beautiful performance at the Oscars. The link seems to be changing , so here is a more recent one.
