Fans, thank you for continuing to keep Glen in your thoughts and prayers. To Glen's family and friends, please know that we are here for you and our love and thoughts are with you all.Kim, Campbell’s wife of 34 years, reveals in her latest public update that her husband is in Stage 7 of the disease and is no longer able to verbally communicate.
According to Alzheimers.net, Stage 7 is the final stage of Alzheimer’s disease; patients in this stage are nearing death. The site explains that those with Stage 7 Alzheimer’s “lose ability to respond to their environment or communicate. While they may still be able to utter words and phrases, they have no insight into their condition and need assistance with all activities of daily living. In the final stages of the illness, patients may lose their ability to swallow.”
Kim Campbell tells Studio 10 Live (GCF readers, please see the post below about this interview) that her husband is “healthy” and “content,” and although he’s lost the ability to communicate verbally and has severe aphasia, “he still understands the universal language of smiles and kisses, and he enjoys food.”
The country legend’s wife explains that the Campbell family’s faith and a positive attitude have gotten them through his difficult diagnosis. “Life’s made up of 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you respond to it,” Kim Campbell notes. “Our family chose to rally together in love and laughter and to support one another and try to make the best of each day and cherish every moment that you have together.”
