Here you go ...
These guys were coveted by diehard Ovation fans. At one point, not too long ago, most of them had a known owner. Now, I bet the location of very few are known...in fact, one of them "kind of" popped up about half a year ago and when the owner found out how rare it was and was asked how he came to own it....he disappeared.

Same era...

It was, I believe, the first Adamas CK let go from the factory. There is a list of them somewhere and all the big names they went to.

Hi Jay

Thanks so much for replying..

The forum is fantastic with lots of details that us guitar fans love!

One question that comes to mind is this...

There is a guitar advert that I’ve seen featuring Glen playing an Adamas..

I think the ad was from the late 70’s

I’m wondering what model it was?

Thanks again for any information :)

Scott

Hey Scott...

First of all...Thanks for looking in on us and joining! And you are absolutely right about Glen's popularity in England. It was HUGE!

Strings...wow...I have never ever thought about that one. I have always gone with the string that best complimented my Ovation, acoustically. I will hit Jeff Dayton up to see if Glen had a preference for his acoustics.

BTW, your Ovation 1627GC from '17 is a beautiful instrument. Congrats in being able to score one.

Thanks again for joining and keep the posts coming.

String Question

Post by OvationfanGC »

Hi everybody

I’m new to the forum and am a fan of Glens and am particularly interested in the Ovation and Adamas guitars he played.

He was hugely respected over here in England.

I’m wondering if anybody on the forum knows what strings Glen used?

I’m assuming it was the Adamas ones fitted at the factory but could be wrong of course!

It’s a great forum and I’m glad I discovered it!

The Ovation I have is a 1627GC from 2017...

It’s a great guitar and it feels like a huge privilege to play a guitar like Glens..

Regards to all

Scott
