Re: Alzheimer's treatment

Post by Dee »

Hi, Shelia,
I didn't see the rebroadcast on CNN, so I asked Siblis. He replied:
"From what I was able to tell, they cut the whole trip to Arkansas out, including interviews with Debby, Kelli, The Ride that Gerald took through town to show the Church that Glen built, etc...... They also changed the ending when rolling the credits at the end of the film."
Hope this info helps!

Did anyone but me see the repeat Saturday night on CNN of IBM? They had commericals in this one and it was almost like that kept the film running
while the commericals were on and then just went back to the film. Left out some things like when he went back Billstown/Delight to see the family
the only shot of that was him standing in the cemetary. But I still watched

Glen Campbell gets his close-up on CNN: 'I'll Be Me' documentary review
Newsday.com
By Verne Gay
July 2, 2015

About the upcoming CNN rebroadcast of "Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me", Newsday's reviewer recommends:
...watch -- again, Saturday at 9 p.m. -- if you have not yet done so. There's beauty here, and power. There's also memory -- ours. For many of us, Glen Campbell still very much lives on, as a happy and enduring memory from a violent and convulsive time. Watch and remember Campbell for what he was -- one of the great country crossover artists, with a voice that could break hearts. The kid from Delight still can.
How many fans here will be watching the encores?

Music journalist Allen Morrison who wrote a truly magnificent piece about Glen during his Goodbye Tour also saw the documentary on CNN.
The things I love about Glen Campbell are things we will always have, thanks to his recordings: that magnificent, high, lonesome voice with its unerring pitch, the simplicity of his delivery, the honesty; combined with his breathtaking, genre-bending guitar playing.

Here you can read the original 2011 interview with Glen (3 pages).

A convenient truth Independent documentary films, once the poor stepchildren of the big screen, hit the big time on TV.
The Press-Enterprise (Riverside, CA)
By Michael Hewitt
June 30, 2015
(James) Keach and his producing partner, Trevor Albert, both veterans of Hollywood's commercial side, made a film that would run in theaters - "It was always structured as a narrative without commercials" - but were aware that it would eventually reach the most people through television.

"We always knew that this was where it was going to find its home," Keach said. "In this world now, it's Netflix, Hulu. That's where everything lives really. Where it was going to live ultimately was in people's homes."

Hi, Shelia!
Good to hear from you.
When did you see "I'll Be Me" in the theater? Was it last fall?
I know the doc was edited several times--the version that I saw at the Nashville Film Festival was slightly different from the version that I saw last November.
For example, the interview with Glen's parents at the beginning of the film was shortened at some point.
It's interesting that The Band Perry's "Gentle" was cut on Sunday's broadcast.
Maybe to allow time for the Dr. to speak? before the encore?
Hopefully the DVD will have outtakes and bonus footage!
