I just noticed this on the Jimmy Webb site.
47 years ago yesterday....January 28, 1968, the Fifth Dimension performed "Up Up and Away" on the CBS program, The Ed Sullivan Show. The song reached #7 on the US Pop Singles Chart and #1 in Australia - and was placed at #43 in BMI's Top 100 Songs of the Century. The following year it garnered 3 Grammys, Best Pop Performance for the Fifth Dimension and Record of the Year and Song of the Year. It was the first major hit for Jimmy Webb. The Wrecking Crew members Hal Blaine on drums and Al Casey on guitar played on the song.
