An update on the ACM Honors Award Show to be broadcast for the first time ever (date yet to be determined; sometime in the fall on CBS TV)!
This show will present special awards and off-camera category winners from the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards that was held in April in Las Vegas.

Honorees include both Glen Campbell ("Career Achievement Award") and Jimmy Webb ("Poets Award - Living").

I watched for 3 hours just to maybe hear them mention Glen, but nothing took place. I presume the award was already given and not enough time, but overall it wasn't that bad. In the days when Glen and others appeared, they were really dressed, but today, they wear whatever....

According to a Las Vegas Sun news story written by Robin Leach, a salute is planned for the honorees on Sunday's ACM broadcast -- as well as a "televised" honors special in September.

Note: This year's ACM telecast on CBS will be three hours in length, starting at 5 p.m. PT for the 8 p.m. ET prime time transmission.

A LONG overdue recognition by ACM.

Of course, I am still thrilled for our Rhinestone Cowboy to receive the ACM Career Achievement Award "in recognition of artists who have advanced the popularity and acceptance of country music". How fitting! Glen Campbell was also one of the pioneers who helped found the ACM awards 53 years ago.

Crystal Gayle, Tanya Tucker and the Statler Brothers have been named the recipients of the ACM Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award. Glen Campbell won the Pioneer Award in 1998.

Jimmy Webb is being honored with the "Poet's Award - Living". A long overdue honor for Jimmy!

The Academy of Country Music (ACM) is honoring Glen with a Career Achievement Award!
